Central locking question

I have an 86 3.2 Carrera coupe, the locking button lights brightly when a door is locked but pushing the button will not lock or unlock the doors. The drivers side lock will lock or unlock both doors. Where should I start to trouble shoot? I would like to install key less lock/unlock but I think the factory system needs to work to make an easy install.

Thanks,
Bernie

Both locking mechanisms in the doors work, and the button in the console appears to work, so that leaves....the control module, the most expensive part. Although, I suppose it could also be a faulty relay. That's cheap and easy to replace so you might try that first. It could also be that the pushbutton light works but it isn't sending a signal to the control module.

Verify that both doors lock and unlock with the key on both sides. Verify that both doors lock/unlock with the round knobs on the door panels.

How is your Fog Light Switch at the Dash, LOose or Tight?

When I replaced mine, I noticed one of the wires effected my central locking system switch/light. It was loose and did not activate the switch but it did light when I pulled the Fog Light Switch. Doubled checked the contacts and all is good now.
