83 SC --- "Hard Line" Part # Check
 

In my 83 SC, the hard line shown in the pic below is very oily/greasy. It does look like there's a leak at the connections. I'm looking to replace it and wanted to verify the part #.

The diagrams are a bit confusing or does not offer the best perspective, but I think it is this PP part....

Can someone help me validate/verify?

Also --- what if I replace the line and the connections still leak --- does that mean replace the uptream/downstream hoses?

BTW --- I see that some people have their oil sump pan with the drain bolt at 6:00 --- and some have them at 9:00.

Is that by preference, convenience, or by model year???

Your sump cover is installed incorrectly. "The oil drain plug must not be placed under the oil pickup from the oil pump, it will cause suction problems otherwise." That's right from Wayne's engine rebuild book page 182.

Now for the hoses, the hard line is probably just fine. The rubber hoses get old and weep oil to the lowest point which is the connection between the rubber line and the hard line. Order the rubber hose, and get a new "s-hose" as well since you're already draining the oil.

Is this line the one that connects to the end of the hard line at the right end (Passenger side)? If so, where does this line lead to on the other end?
