Opinions - tires for my stock '76 2.7L 911S

I finally have my new-to-me '76 in my garage. Many issues to tackle but new tires is a simple one. OE was 185/70R15. Currently has 195/70R15 on original Cookie Cutters.

I want to stay stock, but the 185s are NLA. The 195/70 are slightly larger diameter than the 185/70, but a closer fit to OE is a 195/65R15. I am thinking of going that size in a Goodyear Eagle GT V-rated.

This will be 99.9% street use in summer, perhaps some PCA track time to learn how to drive.

Good choice size? Good choice tire?

15" tires

I put 205/55-15 on my 76 912e and they fit with no rubbing. The speedo's definitely off, but the ride is good. To maintain stock diameter 195/65-15 or 205/60-15 should be really close to the original diameter. I used Falken 912 and so far they are great!

Size should be plenty close enough, 195/65-15 is what I am currently running on the front of my 84 Carrera.

Pickings are slim in that size. Your Eagle GT is an all season? I'm running Bridgestone Potenza Grid G019 because they were the only ones I can find in the staggered 15" sizes I need: 195/65 and 215/60. They are fine on the street. On the track for DEs, they tend to melt and throw out chunks.

Only high performance summer tire I can find that you and I can use is the Pirelli P6000, for about twice as much money. I plan on trying them as soon as I finish ruining these Bridgestones, about 2 more track weekends.

It's either that or go to Hoosiers.

I am trying to put together a set of 16" Fuchs rims so I can get a better selection of tires, but it's slow and I will probably have to use some small spacers and that means putting in longer studs.........it's a never ending list.
