how to remove blaupunkt franfurt from my 77
can anyone tell me how to remove the blaupunkt frankfurt radio from the dash of my 77 911?
after a couple hours i still can not seem to figure it out. thanks, jim

Not sure what model the Frankfurt is, more specifically if it is a DIN chassis. If it is, you should see 4 small holes, one in each corner of the face plate. There is a small tool shaped like this [ which fits into the holes on each side. This releases the tangs that hold the radio in and allow you to slide it out the front.

the radio is the original that came with the car new.
it does not seem to have those 4 holes. here is a picture. ![]()

Jim, ah yes, familiar with those. To remove, unscrew the nuts on the volume and tuning knobs, remove face place, should see two identical nuts underneath the face plate. Remove those. There may or may not be a holding strap from the rear of the radio to the body, if so, remove. You should now be able to push the radio back an inch or so. You should be able to see a metal plate behind the face plate that you can now slightly tilt and pull out through the front. Radio pulls out from the front.

this is weight reduction and i am removing the whole stereo system. although the combined weight is low i guess every little bit helps.
i am going to try to fabricate a way to mount my hot lap timer in the radio hole.
