tensioner rebuild kit

Are these NLA? I want to inspect my mechanical tensioners but why open it up and not throw the o rings and spring in each one right?

Weird I cant find them on the host new parts section...

My local dealer was able to get me genuine Porsche rebuild kits. So they are out there. I rebuilt a pair of 930 tensioners, one of which seemed to work ok at first. But once I got it apart I found the o-rings were badly worn. So, definitely, if you're going to open them up you should go ahead and fix 'em up.

There used to be a good step by step guide 'out there', but I can't find it any more. The process is a little more than you might be expecting, but not too difficult.

Hey JP, as I was rebuilding my 2.7, I decided to do the same thing as I had heard both pros and cons about the hydraulic chain tensioner kits... I couldn't find them from our host either but discovered that the part number for the rebuild kit is 911-105-901-01 (and you'll need two of them). I found mine at Stoddard. I'd also strongly suggest that you use the 930 idler wheels since that seems to be a big contributing factor to tensioner failure- I think our host caries both the OEM versions and the parts Henry (Supertech) makes- I bought Henry's product because it was cheaper yet seemed to be just as high-quality (if not better made) than OEM.

Hopefully this will help!

Curt

the o-rings seem to be the basic problem. the big one usually has blown out into the upper area where the spring is. i went down to the local rubber and 0-ring supplier (gardico) and got a bag of them. the rest of the stuff in the kits is not generally needed. clean, reassemble and bleed.

The 930 tensioners are the way to go.
