Great news that you have the car running well and have noticed the improvement over carbs. I had a similar upgrade sensation.

Now, Let's make this car run even better.

I see some things you are going to want to change. :) Don't worry, it will only improve on your results. I reviewed your engine spec. I think you need to scale the VE table to maximize the output and add resolution in the table where you need it. .

1. You use 4 columns of the VE table to run the engine less than 1400 rpm. This can be done with two columns. Then use the extra columns to have more resolution around peak torque.

2. What is your rev limit? You need a column for rpm at redline.

3. The rpm and load (MAP) readings do not have to be linear. Space them accordingly so that you have the best resolution in the point of greatest change. For example, See how you have a large jump in VE values between 85 and 100 kPa? This is where you can insert extra rows. How do you get these rows? read on.

Here is my VE table. Notice how I scale the MAP values to put more resolution in the middle of the "upswing" part of the curve. You can do something similar.

4. Drive and glance at the laptop. What is the MAP reading you get at cruise? What do you get at idle? What do you get under decel? When I run a DC40-108 cam I rarely get less than 35kPa on decel. Scale your table accordingly. You can then combine all the VE rows from 35 to 70 in just a few rows. Your table if flat here and you do not need to use so many rows to dictate fuel. Use the extra empty rows to address #3.

5. you are really rich at 1100-1400 (around 85 kPa). Bring these down and smooth out the curve. The only reason you should be this rich is if it compensates for off-idle tip-in. Not unusal for ITBs - YOu just need to make sure you have to run that rich there. In other words, when you crack the throttle the system goes very lean due to the swept area of the butterfly. The system can be tuned to compensate using acceleration enrichment or VE table. I use a combination of both.

6. Are you running a B&G or MS-Extra code? I would highly suggest the MSExtra-II code that will enable a 16x16 fuel table. Almost a requirement for ITBs.

btw, If your laptop has the tune file loaded and you are working offline you should have the table enabled, not grayed out. Usually, the only time this happens is if the tune file (.msq) did not load. Try to reload the tune and see if that eliminates the problem.

happy tuning!

Doug - that would be awesome to caravan up to C&C. Also, One of these weekends soon, I hope I can stop by.

Jamie - Seems like I am always one step away from the fun stuff...tuning. I ordered a new relay board. First my fuel pump wouldnt come on. I ran a jumper past the relay board and the fuel pump works. I tested each of the relays and they all seem to work. Now when I crank my engine, it only turns over and doesnt fire at all. I think that the main relay on the board isnt being engaged. Hopefully I just swap the board and things are back to normal.

I was running the MSII Rev 2.905. I made a new TS Project, and swithced to MSIIExtra Serial 321. When I did the switch, TS converted my 12x12 VE Table to a 16x16 table. I compared the table with yours, and I input the values from your table and will use that as my starting VE table.
When I was reading on MS website on how to download the MSExtra code, it said that you need TS v1.006. My TS is v1.004. I checked for TS updates and it said that TS v1.004 is the latest. I went ahead with loading the MSExtra code anyway. I figured this to be a typo on the MS website. Is there anything I should make sure that I do in my TS Project now that I the MS Extra code loaded? I calibrated the sensors, not sure if there's something I am missing. Bad timing that my relay board appears to have gone at the same time I loaded the new project.

I downloaded the TS v1.006. I guess the automatic update checker only checks for incremantal updates and if a new build comes out, you have to go to the TS website and download it. I also installed a new relay board. Now you can hear the fuel pump come on when the key is switched to the on position. I am also getting a tach signal when I am cranking the engine. I am either not getting a spark or fuel as the emgine doesnt fire at all, it just turns over. An LED on the ECU lights up while I am cranking the engine, so there is a signal making it to the ECU from the relay board. I also put some gas into the tank just in case my gas gage was not correct.

What's your fuel requirement set at with this table?

Any updates?

I havent been out to the garage to work on the car for a while, so no real updates. I have been driving the car. Recently went on a PCA Tour and the car drove fine and got to chat with some nice people. The few things on my to do list are to upgrade my Tuner Studio to the latest build and go with the 16X16 VE Table, and then spend some time on tuning. Although the car runs fine, I believe that I can get a lot more out of it.

One thing that I should report on is that a while back I uploaded the TS_Extra a while back so that I would have the 16x16 VE Table, I couldn’t get the car started. I believe that the problem was that the .ini and firmware files didn’t match. Usually when a new firmware file is loaded, the matching .ini is automatically chosen by the software. For some reason, this didn’t happen with mine and the result was that the ignition never fired. I went back to my previous configuration with the 12x12 Table and the car fired right up and I was back on the road.

Here’s a short video of the engine running. The critics are calling this a cinematic master piece…haha.

I looked at your thread and am very happy to see the progress that you have made…good job. That car looks like alot of fun to drive...fast

Sorry for the delay.

Very nice!

Sorry I missed this earlier.

Sounds like its running very well. Love the crisp throttle response. Time to enjoy on the road now.
