Csi pressure issue please!!!
Ok I have stated in other threads I am not working on P car but the fuel system is the same K CIS non Lambda system.
All pressures are within specs ck'd with gauges. Isolated pump and accumulator and all ok with pump ck valve stick 1 in 10 times. I went to start car after changing lines and new injectors. I had issue with gauge getting stuck then spitting brass shaving into wur and disassembled to verify didn't bypass wur screen. Car will start and kind of run. Pulled plugs-- bone dry and not color. Pulled injector lines and with 80psi blocking wur almost zero fuel from line. With wur valve open same approc 1.5 bar to 3 bar heated. There is resistance on plate when pushed up to do above tests. You can feel difference when no pressure and with prerssure. Plate does do the double bounce when released. Ok what am I missing here??? Lines are new and blown out before installed so I know they aren't blocked. Distributor was working although I do not know to what extent as I only drove short distance after buying (around block few times). Fuel does dribble out of fuel distributor when lifted but doesn't build pressure. There is plenty of control pressure??? ANYBODY??? Caution I have matches and I am willing to use them at this point. Actually I find it challenging but want to ask the experts first. |
Couple of dumb questions (forgive me if you've checked these already):
- Although unlikely, is the fuel filter flowing correctly? - It sounds like you've had several lines loose during troubleshooting. Are you sure you don't have the fuel supply/return to the distributor accidentally reversed? - Is the plunger moving freely without pressure applied? Is it time for some Seafoam in the fuel tank and recirc fuel through the system to clean things a bit? - Have you done a fuel volume delivery check from the pump? Does it supply the proper volume at pressure? |
It has correct pressure coming from the pump direct and after the filter. Hoses are on correct an ck' several times.
Today I pulled injectors and put in plastic to ck when flow starts. Problem is I know each injector is flowing and openning properly as they were just done. I do see some erratic flow when the start to open. I put the gauge on one injector port at the distributor. When I raise plate it does flow and appears to open at correct pressure but as stated above it doesn't always come on slowly. The other issue is the plate has to be lifted about 3/16" to get them flowing otherwise ZERO anything come out. Shouldn't it start to flow right at idle or crack open at that point? I don't want to change the distributor if it isn't malfunctioning. The plunger has plenty of resistance up and down. Plunger does come down with zero pressure but it isn't like spring loaded. It settles down slowly. Is this ok??? |
