Front Crankshaft Oil Seal Replacement Question
I've read various articles on how to remove the pulley mounting bolt without the aid of special tool 9236 and without lowering the engine.
The car is an 83 SC with AC and the Durlock style bolt. Using the "breaker bar method / 5 gear method", is there a chance you can bend or distort the crankshaft ? When re-installing the bolt (125 ft/lbs) how do you keep the engine from turning ? Do you use the same "5th gear / E-Brake" system? Will this approach cause any type of damage ? Can you set an impact wrench to the required torque setting? Thanks for your help. Guy |

You will not damage the crankshaft either way. Impact guns can be adjusted for torque by varying the input air supply. Good luck with that. Get a torque wrench or use math with your breaker bar.
