hot/warm non start solved - hopefully!

For those of you who helped with my breakdown Uk - France-

Stranded - assistance please!

and the continued breakdowns and troubleshooting-

930 non start issue- continued

Many thanks! - esp. Joe bob

Just picked up the 930 from the 'French Wrench' who replaced the alternator and starter motor for refurbished (both)

Alternator was not charging when hot and possibly intermittently.

The starter motor was changed as I never had 100% confidence in the replacement which the UK wrench installed.

Now when the starter motor engages and turns, it sounds quite different from the old one.
The old one had a metallic sound - like teeth not meshing smoothly. I was not sure if it was normal until now, as the new one is much quieter with no unusual sound.

So I believe my problems were a combination of multiple faults which may have included:

Starter switch electric section - replaced with new
Battery- replaced with new
Starter motor - replaced with refurbished (PS new ones are available from Porsche (approx 1,300€))
Alternator- replaced with refurbished
extra 3rd relay connected to one of the 2 fuel relays - removed

For good measure I cleaned all ground strap connections and replaced all fuses and cleaned fuse holders, cleaned male/female of 14 pin plug and cleaned all pins on yellow wire plug at dash. replaced both red fuel relays for new

I may install a permanent voltmeter to monitor charge volts as this is the 2nd alternator I have replaced on my cars - usual fault is over charging!

Hopefully I can now enjoy driving the car!
regards Ben
