Momo shift knob removal?

I want to remove the Momo Benetton Colors shift know shown below, but can't figure out how to do so. Any explanation and/or tips to help me remove this would be appreciated.

If it's like the momo I used to have, you hold the leather part and unscrew the bottom black part. This will reveal that the colored part is help in place by set screws that pinch the shifter.

Thanks. I'm a little slow....

Unscrewing the sleeve was a pain. Now I got to figure out how to remove the third set screw - either my allen wrench is the wrong size or the insert on the screw is stripped. :::sigh:::

I may need the priest.

if you get at least 2 screws loose you can usually get it off. the set screws have a pointed tip that digs into the metal...also, sometimes when people loose the rubber size adapter thingies that the momo knobs come with, they wrap electrical tape around the shift lever which might be binding it on tight.

if you get 2 screws loose, just twist the the knob off and up, with some force

Put a crescent wrench under it and tap it up with a mallet.

I tried twisting and lifting upward but it wouldn't budge. I'll have to try the crescent wrench a mallet next.

Hopefully, that'll work, but don't underestimate the earnestness of the previous knob owner to secure it ...... forever. Let us know.

And if you don't have a love affair for the existing knob with the colorful fiesta motif, you have my/our permission to destroy it, before or after removal. It's also okay if you like it. It's your knob.

I made that comment on BaT's Facebook post for this car. Somebody sent me a message an hour later wanting to buy it for his Harlequin VW.

That was my mistake. I'm so used to using SAE tools that I didn't even think about it until I said oops.
