Tire size question

Looking for a pair of Fuchs 9 x 16 for my 1985 911 Targa. What size tires would I mount on 9" rims. I just want to make sure there is sufficient tire availability before I purchase this size rim. Also I believe 9's would fit my year car without tire / fender interference- can someone please confirm.
Thank you

Depends on the ride, tire manufacturer, alignment and the mods on the fender....245-255/45 is the acceptable application. Just my opinion....some will differ......

245/45's are a good fit... Save your money, and buy 17's! Much better selection of tires!

You know I'm really very concerned with tire availability. Does anyone have a recommendation for 17" rims style / mfg.

Tires for 17 inch wheels are more available in sizes to fit our cars than 16s. The cool thing is that there seems to be more sets of 17 inch wheels coming up for sale at pretty good prices.

205/215/225 width for the front and 255 for the rear will fit a torsion bar Carrera just fine given that the offsets are correct.

If the car is just for street, and maybe a bit of AX, I'd suggest the cheaper alternative "Rota."
7.5/9x17 pressure cast wheel. $1200 for a set. see the official Rota thread for comments & pics.
I just received a new set I'll be using for street.

Available at WHEELDUDE.COM

I have a set of Fikse FM10's for track use that are forged. Lighter weight, and stronger. About 3 times the cost though... Other good forged wheels in 17 - Forgeline, HRE, Kodiak, Lindsey...
