Jack stands :where else?
 

STOP :D !! I 'm not asking for the same old question, 'cause I've already read Wayne's book ;) ; but where do you put your jack stands when you've to change torsion bars (F+R), A-arms, spring plates or bushings :confused: ???

BTW, is it a better idea to put the car on 4 stands, more than Front before, and rear after (apart the fact that you've to own 4 stands...) ?

last, if I take the spring plate off, without removing the torsion bar, will I have to do alignment or height (if I draw a line before removing the plate, to notice what is the angle of it) ?

I use about an foot and half 2x4 between the front AC condensor and the gas tank that fits inside the torsion bar covers. Center the jack on this and lift. After you have it to the right height, use jack stands near the ends of the 2x4. This leaves a balanced placement. If your car is lowered, you may have to jack one wheel up and place a 2x4 under it to clear the front valance. When I use the torsion bars covers, one jack stand is always unused because of body rigidity.

Even if you mark the current position of the spring plate there is a posibility of change, but it is low. There is a noticable change when choosing a different spline.

Be prepared, however, because sometimes the t-bar comes out with the cover, and at that point you may have to start all over again.

I just did the rear spring plate/new torsion bars/bushings thing and would be glad to help.
