Need a good tech in Denver CO
 

Just had my 1979 SC on the Dynojet. 159HP at the wheels, 183 max torque. Not good. Dyno showed electrical interruption and running lean below 3500RPM.
I preplaced ignition wires, cap and rotor. Now I need a good tech in Denver area to adjust CIS and do a valve adjustment (107k miles).
Any recommendations?

It's a good idea to get some assistance and a couple other guys to add to your list are Greg Johnson at Eurosport, Ltd. in Englewood/Sheridan (303-789-2545) and Dave Marshall at Eurosport Automotive in Arvada (303-423-3715). I've never asked them how they ended up with essentially the same company name but they both have very loyal followings in the Front Range Porsche community.

Another thing to consider is that 159 ponies may not be too bad. According the May Pano, a factory '79 SC should put out around 180 HP. I'm pretty sure that is at the crank and at sea level. My understanding is that even the best result at the wheels is about 10% loss compared to the crank and another 5-10% for Colorado altitude. If you do the math that's about 153 HP best case.

+1 for john eisenbud, who has been in business in denver since 1975. i do most of my own work, but i've used john for parts, some advice, and the work i couldn't do for many years now.

I agree, 159 at the wheels is outstanding, even for a Carrera. You lose 3% of your horsepower for every 1,000 feet gained in altitude, so that's 15% at a mile high. Then figure some loss of compression due to normal engine wear over 32 years, and you'll be lucky to hit 140.

I second Storz Garage. They rebuilt my 70 2.2 911 engine and were very helpful in making it as cheap and painless as possible. They are great!
