912 vs 911 steering rack question

I assume that a 65 912 steering rack is the same that is used on a 65 911? If not then what is different between them?

According to the PET catalog, the 911 & 912 have the same part number for the steering rack. There are different part numbers for '67 and earlier vs '68 & later.
