I've been hit!!

not in my Porsche, which is still safely hidden away up on its chassis dolly in my garage.

But my gorgeous 2002 Mustang is now bunged up! No one was hurt and the damage to my car warrants nothing more than a new bumper. Nonetheless, get this- the driver that hit me just sailed into me in a parking lot. Why? NO BRAKES. NONE. Not to mention no inspection, no license, and no registration. Ahem, and no English. First thing he said when I got out of the car was "Brakes, no worky." Thank goodness he had insurance, small miracle.

I just got off the phone with his insurance co, Integon, and they're being professional so far, as am I. My bumper is plastic and not badly damaged, but it is body color. The paintwork I have seen done to these bumpers is unsatisfactory and I plan to ask for a new bumper from my dealer. Opinions?

Thanks for letting me vent...NO BRAKES!! I say again..."WTF"????

Front or rear bumper? If front I would check your air bag sensor to make sure it is still working and not defective.

Broadside to the passenger side, almost missed me, but tagged the rear bumper. Both cars less than 10mph. Should I ask to have the sensor checked?

Dave,
Almost this same thing happened to me in Durham last year.
Some idiot without a license was driving a friends car with the MC going bad, and ran into me at a light, then got pissed at me when I called the cops..

The records showed he had insurance but it should have been cancelled, so it ended up going on mine for un insured accident and still cost me a $100.00....

One day it would be neat to see your project, where in Raliegh are you located at?

It is annoying...
Good luck
Bruce

Hi Bruce, sucks to hear your story. I'm just west of downtown Raleigh off Western Blvd.

Just got back from the adjuster- their office was on the way back from a lunch errand. Replace right rear wheel (scuffed up, didn't notice before), remove rear bumper, match & paint entire bumper, etc.: $558.39. When's the last time anyone saw a claim under 500 bucks? Wow.

So far a 5 star rating on Integon/GMAC insurance. Darned fast, fair, & professional claim service.
