Zenith 40 tin diaphragm leaks
I got my 1970 911 running. It idles but not that well but runs good. I noticed the diaphrams under the throttle cams were leaking. Can I replace these without having to retune the carbs? Can I replace these without having to remove the carbs? Nothing else looks to be leaking so why disturb it? The car runs good.
Thanks, Justin |

Do you mean the 3 acceleration pumps or the enrichment system. Either way, you could replace them with out a full teardown. You would have to check the acceleration pump operation after you reinstall the linage. I think cleaning the gasket sealing surface will be hard to do with the carbs installed.

I think I can do it. It's the accelerator pumps. I have some special tools I made for cleaning gaskets out of tight spots. It just sucks that I have to spend $60+ on a complete rebuild kit to replace only the diaphrams.
