Accuracy of VIN Lookup?
I just looked up my VIN for kick and grins at the ***********.com site and based on the result it states I have a 40% LSD, option M220....hmm...news to me.
This option was not on my Porsche COA, and I don't have a decklid sticker to verify this. I recently put non-LSD Kendall in my 915, so I'm now worried I need to swap it out for LSD additive version ASAP... At the same time I was putting the Kendall in, I rotated the rear wheel, and the other wheel didn't rotate, leading me to believe that it was a non-LSD diff. (prior experience on American cars with non-LSD diff however, the opposite wheel rotates in the opposite direction...does not stay still... Just saw another post, and guess I need to look for the '12' stamp on the case, but first curious about source of info for these VIN decoders, and accuracy before i have to get under the car again. Also, anyone think I need to give immediate attention to swapping the Kendall for LSD version, or have a recommended aftermarket LSD additive I could use with the Kendall? Thanks!

From my experience they are hit and miss like most option/VIN decoders for our older cars. Newer cars produced after 1990 seem to have better results according to my buddy who is a GM at a major auto dealership.
Are you sure you have the original trans in your car? Does the trans number match the # on the COA? No comment on the trans fluid, but I suspect you don't have the LSD from the info you've stated so a change or additive might not be necessary? YMMV

Did that as per my post. Other wheel did not turn at all. Would have expected opposite rotation on non-LSD....thus part of the question.

Ask basically the same question because my COA list LSD and P.Z. confirm that for a non-LSD, one wheel will go clockwise while the other will go counter clockwise. So if you turn one wheel the other wheel is not rotating it should a LSD.
