Petronix Wiring (DOH!)
All,
I was hoping someone could give me a little insight into my recent screw up. I performed a partial engine drop which required that I disconnect the wiring from my Petronix modified distributor. Well, in a senior moment, on reassembly I reversed the wiring on the petronix and now, having attempted to start the car, correcting the wiring, I have no spark. Would reversing the petronix wiring destroy the sensor?

Here are some trouble shooting tips. They mention polarity reversal but do not mention this will destroy anything. They do mention if you have your key in the on position without the car being started can fry the unit and the coil.

I am pretty darn sure the unit is fried! At least I fired mine when I messed up the wiring. The type 2, however, should be better in that respect

these units have their issues and don't last forever anyway I keep a spare soldered and ready to go because I don't like electric plugs for something like ignition I used a buss bar that's idiot proof for r&r a good marine plug connector is good enough just my routine
