Ducktails - Shaw, Getty,Stratton, etc.

I kow there are quite a few threads dedicated to ducktails--the different styles, what's "right" and what's "wrong", etc.

I'm having a tough time discerning the small differences between an MA Shaw, a Getty, and a Stratton--which seem to be the names that come up time and again when someone asks for suggestions.

I have an 1985 Carrera Targa that may need a ducktail, but I can't easily see what I think would look best.

Will some folks post some photos of their ducktails indicating who the manufacturer is, please?

I know the 100% fiberglass versus the metal base discussion and the fitment concerns. I'm not trying to bring that up here. I'm only looking for some pictures that indicate the maker of the tail.

Thanks in advance. A few good pictures will help me decide the route I want to take.

Go to Google.com and enter the type of ducktail you want to look at and then click on the images option in google. I found pictures of all three types right away.

Here is a couple shots of my MA Shaw carbon fiber duck tail. Fit and finish is excellent, only required minor adjustments installing.

MA Shaw and Getty are the same mold- Getty makes them

Stratton has his upper skins (the duck) molded locally in Fla. He then grafts them to a stock lid (that he removes the outer skin from)

All ducktails usually need some fitting to get the gaps as best as possible. Sometimes people luck out and they bolt on with little or no work to make them fit.

I've had great luck with MA Shaw so far.

Thumbs up General input on Ducktails

I have owned more than a few versions of "tails" over the years; from fiberglass to one using original Porsche decklids as the base.
I have also some GT Racing body parts installed on my car, and had a GT Racing RS Ducktail. But mine like many seem to have issue's with age. Lite weight and normal fiberglass flex in time casued small cracks and warping. Thus the fit started to change, but price and if your using them on a full time track car>then fine. But for street/track/autocross and then back to street. You will in time replace it.
GT Racing fiberglass photo's of my car

I went to Gary to have him make me both a Ducktail and RSR rear "whales trail". The lids weight alittle more, but are rock solid with no flex and fit very well since these are factory lids. A little more money, but Gary stands behind them; no more needs to be said! I had a very small issue, called Gary and he had a simple answer. Send it back and I will redo it until it right; and that just what he did. NO B.S>He is a hand shake type of a guy>he corrected the issue at no charge and I paid the freight. Simple and the way it should be handled.
Stratton Ducktail made using a Porsche factory metal decklid; followed by a custom made (his first) RSR Whalestail. We used a GT Racing fiberglass block and Gary fitting it to a factory decklid.

He is not the cheapest Ducktail on the market, quality is what your paying for; Gary has made replacement Ducktails for "real RS's" and you will need to know what to look for to tell.
Last my RSR custom "Large Whales Tail" from Monterey last year.

Want more input feel free to drop me a line or call Gary @ 407-421-1911 in Florida.
Hope the input help!
