All,
No doubt a silly question but without a manual the electrics in any car can be confusing. I have replaced both driver-side and passenger-side blower motors, located in the respective footwells. One blower had blown the inline fuse and turned out to be smoking from the windings, the other had a bearing go out. I tested both the replacements directly off the battery and all worked well. Placed them into their respective areas, connected them and turned the ignition on. Whirrrrr! Everything great. Then they stopped. I have not been able to determine if there is a relay somewhere that I have missed. Both of the red (10A) inline fuses are good, but when I test the connection plug(s) I show no voltage. Is there another common fuse or relay somewhere that I have not found? Or are the blowers supposed to shutdown? Maybe the fancy auto-climate control only turns them on when needed? Damn I wish there was a good manual on this stuff. The owners guide is pretty sketching on this kind of thing.

Probably a silly question but is your heating system asking for heat? - If not try turning it up! to my recollection these fans will only work when heat is required - thus if not required there would be no voltage at the motor.

Just to be sure, when you say you have no voltage at the connections- are you talking about the connections at the motors? Have you checked for voltage at each fuse, before and after the fuse? Or are you just checking the fuses for continuity? If you have voltage before fuse, but not after, and you have a "good" fuse, it could be a faulty fuse holder. If you have voltage before AND after the fuse, but not at the motor connections, the wiring has probably burned internally from the fuse to the motor- check for continuity between fuse and motor lead.

Hello all,
Test drove the car today in bloody cold weather - who says it never snows in Altanta? - the vents seem to pushing out hot air but I didn't have a chance to test the fans. I think the automatic heat control starts the fans when the ignition is turned on, but thereafter shuts them off until needed. I hope at least. The inline fuses look good, as do the main fuses in the front and engine compartments. I'll have to test for continuity - so far I have only been testing at the blower connection. Thanks for URL to the electrical connections. I can see my printer is going to be busy! More to follow...
