How do I know if Tranny has Lsd in it?
 

I ran a search...to no avail...on the question. I thought I remember reading that I need to grab both flanges on the tranny, but turn only one. If the one not turning goes backwards, or can be held still, it does not have Limited slip Differental....
Can someone verify this to be correct?

From what I've been told, here's a simple way to check:
Get the rear off the ground. Rotate one wheel. If the other one rotates the same direction, you have LSD. If it rotates the opposite direction, no limited slip.

Find a nice clear spot of residential area and dump the right wheel in the grass. Now rev her up and sidestep the clutch! If you see sod flying and you are not moving then you do not have a LSD http://www.pelicanparts.com/ultimate/smile.gif If you take off like a bat out of hell then you are lucky enough to have a LSD.

This method is easier than jacking up the car, but much harder on the clutch if you have a LSD.

Thanks..........The tranny is out of the car, and free of it's CV parts...So I'm assuming that the same applies to just turning one side with my hand.

swallow a teaspoon of it's gear oil and wait an hour.

If your tranny's pupils are dialated, chances are there is LSD present.
