2 post lift, Dannmar or Bendpak

Looking at these two lifts.
Dannmar Bridadier 10AC (formerly D-10AC) Two Post Car Lift
or
BendPak XPR-10A Asymmetric 10,000 lb. Capacity, Dual-Width 2 Post Car Lift

Is the Bendpak worth the extra coin?

Rotary is the only lift to buy $1k more which you will soon forget
PS: The list prices on their site are not what they sell for their 2 post with low arms should be right around 3600

Dan, do you have any spare lifts around the shop you don't need, I can pick it up?

I have the two post bend-pak asymmetrical and love it. The price 2 years ago was $2700.00 free shipping and no sales tax to NY.

I Recently installed the Dannmar 10acx 10,000lb asymmetric lift. Its design replicates the Bendpak (and in my research I believe Bendpak & Dannmar are the same company?). I am totally satisfied...and wondering why I didn't get it 2 years ago!!!

If you are not a pro shop my opinion is that you do not have to pay the premium to have a great AND safe lift (no knock on Rotary, Mohawk etc...they were way out of my price range and I couldn't justify the extra cost). The Danmar 10ac is ALI certified along with the other 'high grade lifts so why pay $500-thousands more for a tool you will never wear out in a personal install? I ended up purchasing from Garage Equipment Supply for roughly $2400 (out the door!) and they were top notch in my dealing with them.

I had to have the lift shipped to a freight terminal and used a uhaul trailer (cheap!) to haul it to my house.

It took two guys (myself and my neighbor) to tilt up the posts and I did the rest with a scaffold but you could probably do it with a 10' ladder with a lot of back and forth.

One drawback is the fact that the arms are thick at the pads so for both the Porsche and my other sports car, I have to use 'mini ramps' (2x6 boards to get the cars high enough to locate the lift pads prior to hoisting in the air.

I simply used my hoist at the balance point to move uprights around until i needed to tilt the uprights

Mine was installed by a 60 year old guy who couldn't weigh more than 150lbs.. by himself!!! He used the engine hoist to both remove the posts from the truck and stand them up, quite impressive. I just sat and watched (he was one of those 'don't help me!' types).

I installed a Bend Pak in my new shop this past summer. Except for the color, it looks identical to yours. It's by far the best investment I've ever made in a tool! Took only about 1 1/2 hours to drop my 911 engine recently using the lift and a hydraulic table, working by myself, and no worries about the engine falling off of a tippy jack. Even simple oil changes are easier, with no more laying on the ground....

Thanks for all your help, I ended up ordering the Dannmar 10ACX which is a little wider than the 10AC. Salesman said it would be easier loading a short wheelbase vehicle such as a 911. Comes with a FREE 8-Gallon Upright Portable Oil Drain for only $2439 delivered.

Congrats! You are going to love it! you may not have issues loading your car on the lift. My car is lowered and my floor is not as even as I would have hoped...but what a difference in working on the car!!! Enjoy. Ping me if you are installing and get hung up during the install. I just put my 10acx up a month or so ago.

Every lift mfg. probably has a different spec based on their design but I believe Dannmar specifies a minimum of 4" thick 4000psi concrete

FAQ on Dannmars site
"How thick is your concrete floor?
Your lift has requirements for concrete base. Make sure your concrete is thick enough to hold your lift, minimum thickness is 4". Also, ensure your concrete is in good condition with no major cracks. For example, concrete anchors must be at least 6” from the edge of the concrete or any seam. Also, the lift can’t be anchored to the concrete if there are any cracks within 36” of the base plate."

I built my shop custom with 36"x36" pads 12" deep with rebar...total overkill =) but hey, 'while I was in there' it was easy.
