pmo questions

i have a couple of questions
are all pmos the same size, and different sizes refer to interchangeable parts, like jets and venturis?

or are there things like throttles and the bore size of the actual carb that make each carb a set size?

I ask this because i have a 3.0l right now that i would like to buy some 50mm pmo's for

why 50mm, you may ask. i am planning on using a larger bore motor in the future, probably a 3.6l, and if im going to pay for pmo's, id like to be able to use them on both motors.

Ive read somewhere that you can put smaller venturis and jets on a 50mm to use on a 3.0 motor. is it true?

i know i will have to use a different manifold on the different motor sizes, but thats not a big deal.

thanks
scott

I doubt it because I have seen ads looking to buy/trade up or down. I owuld suggest faxing your questions to PMO. Unless you are a current cutomer, they don't take calls.

Yes, there are different sizes, jets, etc for PMO's. I had 50s on my 3.0 for a while and then put the 50's on my 3.8 (from a 3.6) rebuild. If you want information on the jet size and emulsion tube size for the 3.0 vs the 3.6 consult your tuner or short of that I can get the numbers for you. Hope that helps. If you want the numbers I used for mine, email me at cosmodoc at hal-pc dot org.........Garry

The upper portion of all PMO's is 50mm. The bottom part where the throttle plate is, has different sizes (40,46,50mm). All the jets and emulsion tubes are interchangable. I think the venturies are different because the bottom must match the bore of the throttle bodies. You can use the 50's on your 3.0 but they will be hard to tune compared to a 40 or 46.

If anyone can supply the right sizes for emulsion tubes, jets, venturis, etc. to use the 50mm carb on the 3.0, that would be very helpful
THanks
scott

Seller's (not Peter) Market. The demand is too great to allot time and money to prospecting.

JMHO, but you're not going to get 50mm carburetors to work properly on a 3.0. Regardless of venturi size, those throttles are far too large to have sufficient velocity for such size engines in a mild state of tune.

Steve, from what ive been reading, I agree, but just getting the motor to run until i have the larger motor would be fine for me. I know its not optimal in any way, but Im not going to buy a smaller carb size for the 3.0 motor that im not planning on keeping for long.
And i have read that you can get it to work

Used carbs don't last long on this site. I'd agree with Steve. If it were me I'd buy used 40mm Webers and use them until it's time to build that 3.6. Then sell the 40s and buy the PMO 50s. I have 46 Webers on a 3.0 hot rod that are almost too big. I have big cams, a lot of compression with twin plugs and headers. I needed all that and more to get the 46s to work decent. I spin it to 7,000 plus which is where 46s shine on a 3.0.
