Wires?

Anyone have any idea what these wires are for? They are located in the left rear of the engine bay of my 86 911 3.2. Someone on Rennlist thought they might be for the rear wiper option, but wasn't sure. One is hot and one is ground. For reference, the fuel filter is just to the left in the pic. Thanks.

Wipers are a possibility, are we looking at 2 or 4? Mine has 4*.
I take it you don't have a rear wiper?
Is the 'hot' one really hot / live, or is it dead and just have red insulation?
I'd be inclined to tape it up pronto.

If a wiper was never installed then there is only 2 wires. If it is installed I think it picks up the power from the engine compartment so they should not be hot just like mine:

Only two wires and I don't have a rear wiper on my car. The bare wire is the ground. Haven't checked if the hot wire is live.

I added a rear tail w wiper years ago, and used the two wires. I don't recall the details, but there is a diagram in Bentley.

cool - they're probably dead - especially if you have no wiper (or switch). I'm just paranoid about red wires. :-)
