3.6L into '74 911 Conversion - What lines to plug?
Hello -
Finally have my 3.6L conversion up and running - drove it around the block this weekend for the first time in between snow and rain storms! The first issue that I am trying to sort is that the engine will not idle. It's not that it's rough, or hunting, or too high/low etc... it won't idle at all. This made my trip around the block difficult as every time I lifted with the clutch in, it stalled. I did some reading and learned there are a lot of suspects that could cause a bad idle, but I was fiddling around this evening and unplugged one of the hoses I had plugged - #4 in the third photo below - and low and behold when I pulled the plug it idled fine! My manual indicates that this connection is to the charcoal canister for fuel tank venting. When I unplugged it, it was sucking in A LOT of air when the motor was running. If I plugged it w/a finger, the motor would stumble and start to stall; when unplugged, it would idle fine. Since it's sucking in air, should this connection be filtered? I don't have a charcoal canister to connect it to? Also, I figured I'd post photos of other lines that are plugged to make sure they are as they should be. The motor is a '90 964 3.6L. #3 is plugged because I am venting the oil tank through a breather/catch can instead of through the intake - see last photo.
