Usage of the Martini marque

Hi Guys

A used motor car dealer in Sydney Australia recently decorated their awning/shelter in the Martini brand and logo. I am not so sure they sought permission from any of the companies that utilise the marque.

I found it entertaining to see considering it is so much associated with Porsche history. I am just not sold on the current application though.

I have a vague memory of a situation many years ago where this came up. 'Martini' was the person's actual surname - so he could actually use it on his business without litigation.

That'll get him access to the name but not the colours, logos, themes etc.

I seem to recall a story a few years ago about a hamburger shop being owned and operated by people called McDonald, from memory I don't think it was a happy ending for the less affluent of the McDonald clan.

Yep, it is directly opposite the VW dealer at Fivedock.

Time will tell and I will wait to see if the signage dissapears one day.....
