Cappuccino makeover
After selling my 911 back in 2001 and kicking myself almost daily (find one of my first posted threads here by searching for it's VIN 302743), I'm back in the brotherhood of official 911 ownership again.
I took pity on the project car sitting in the side yard of a true Porsche-phile's collection about 40 minutes away from where I have an office in Tennessee. This makes for an interesting path for the project, as I live in the Portland Oregon area, but I'm in TN about once a month, and working on a LWB 911 is better than watching reruns in the hotel at night. Plus, there is plenty of space at the moment in TN, and no space in OR. When that changes, I'll figure out where to move the 911 for the next stages. ![]() The previous caretaker (who is on the forum and I'll leave it up to him to remain anonymous or chime in) did a nice boon, and started some of the dismantling and early scrutinizing. You can see most of the interior and the doors have been already pulled. There is some rust in the rockers, battery boxes, floors, and rear seat areas. But nothing super scary, and replacement sheet metal is readily available. ![]() ![]() ![]() For now, I'm just going to collect some simple tools and start cleaning up the areas that need metal repair. I haven't decided what the end result is, but it will definitely be a narrow body hot rod with a "space program" effort (i.e. all the right stuff). Currently it is Light Ivory over Tan/Mocha, a T with comfort package (14" Fuchs--VW and 912 guys make me an offer!) More next month when I'm back with the car.... --Miq |
