How to determine which Fuchs: going from 15" to 16" rims

It's time for new tires and 15" are getting harder to find (no news there to this group).

I tried searching the forum on the question of going from 15" to 16" fuchs on my 911 and didn't find anything really definitive. I have a 1988 911 Carerra - it's a special edition with color matched 15", 7"/8" wheels.

I've found a set of Fuchs 16" 7/8s that appear to be in good shape - but I'm not sure what offsets/part numbers I should be aiming for, and I am waiting to get the part numbers from the owner to determine which offsets these wheels have.

I looked at Bill Verburg's charts and it looks like the offsets are the same regardless of the year of 911, even though there are different part numbers for different years (and painted and unpainted versions).

Just wondering if there are certain part numbers/offsets that will definitely *not* fit my car.

Thanks for any info on this.

All Fuchs are early offset wheels. If you have 15 x 7 & 8, 16 inch Fuchs will fit just fine. They are interchangeable.

Excellent - thank you!

There are also 16 inch fuchs that came on 944s that have a different offset. Their part # starts with 951 instead of 911. That being said, all 16x7 and 16x8 will fit on your car. 911 ones look/fit the best.

The 16 x 8 with the 951 part number is the only 8" that will fit the front of a 911.

A set of 7&8 Fuchs will always fit a 1988 911, either 15s or 16s.

The 951 wheels are prized by the guys with 16 x 9" rears. For quite a while I ran 7 & 9 x 16s. Couldn't have been happier.
