Engine Relay Console

I am trying to identify the wiring in the engine compartment console, 71 911T Targa. My rear window defroster has long since stopped working, and there are no round relays, but there is some nomenclature I am unsure about:

ignition transformer?
BHKZ Unit?
Speed Switch?

I would like to remove as much unused wiring and mountings as possible.

Plus it is hard to find a specific diagram as most are generic.
Any help would be appreciated

gary.

Gary, the wiring diagrams are found on the main page here and are specific to 1971.

It is not a good idea to remove wiring, it becomes impossible for us to help you when you have trouble, because things aren't the way they came from the factory.

Ignition transformer = coil
BHKZ= Bosch Hochspanner Kondensator Zundung, or CDI ignition box (with fins)
Speed Switch - silver rectangular can on the console, critical for MFI overrun fuel cutoff.

Search here for BHKZ and Speed Switch for more info, all this stuff is really useful.

Good luck!

Thanks for the information.

The only thing I am removing is the rear window heater set up which was disconnected by the PO. I made a new plate to accommodate my MSD and will re install the rest, voltage regulator, speed switch, and capacitors.
