Removing rear A/C condenser

I need to remove my rear condenser so I can add a spoiler. Do I have to first evacuate the whole system before disconnecting the hoses?

The system needs to be depressurized; to do it in an environmentally friendly fashion, the Freon should be captured for recycling……….

If you are going to disconnect the hoses, yes you need to recover the refrigerant. If you still have the original R-12 it is very expensive. Don't vent it! Even if it has been converted to 134a don't just vent it.

Why not just dismount it and let it hang until you can secure it again..?
