Lobro CV Boots: are they as good as they used to be?
I'm about to replace the CV boots. I have new Lobro kits. I've read in another thread a while back, someone here had replaced with new and they cracked about a year later. So now I'm wondering if I should just reuse my old boots. Below is a picture of the old versus the new. The new appears to be slightly smaller in diameter. I also wonder about the quality of the rubber. Does anyone have any insight into the quality of Lobros' current CV boot?

I had issues with the boots that came on the new axles. I do not know if the replacament boots have the same issues. The boot in your picture does not look like the boots that come on the replacement axles - not nearly enough flash at the parting line.
I do not have enough time on the EMPI kits to comment on them - I've got 1 year on one axle, and 1/2 a year on the other.

dunno, BUT VW Vanagon people are having problems - it seems many CV joint boots are being outsourced and are infested with Chinese drywall

Keeping the old boots
I'm going to put the old boots back on. In my humble opinion they are better than the new ones. The old rubber is better rubber; it feels better and stronger. The new rubber just isn't as compliant as one would expect.
I shot a video and put it on youtube showing the difference. Judge for yourself. MVI_1975.AVI - YouTube
