Clutch operation

The clutch operation on my 81 SC does not feel smooth. There seems to be some stiction such that the travel is not always consistent. Some times smooth some times very 'notchy'. I am just starting to investigate.

One thing I have found so far is that the clutch helper spring is not always pulling the pedal all the way back. Sometimes it does, somtimes it doesn't. Pivot appears somewhat dry - i think it needs lubricated.

What comments and experience are out there that can help me in this task?

Check the omega spring at the bottom of the trans.(#21)
Also remove the cir-clip(#8), small clutch release arm(#18),and the long release arm (#13)
Clean the shaft, lube and reassemble.
