Longest Lineage part
So this weekend as I was looking at my babies I wondered if there was a single part that was shared.
Is there a part on a 911 that started on the original and has made it all the way through the 997.2 or 991? It could be a screw or bolt, or a weird light for the seatbelt.... If not, what is the longest connection, part wise, on any 911? Just curious.... t. |
you must really be bored. :)

Tires?
|
Plenty of small items that made it to the 993, not sure about the water cooled cars
|
I know of two or three things........
that have been the same on all Porsches. The first is a part, the Schrader tire valve. The second is a measurement, the spacing for the license plate bolts. A third one would be the spelling of the name "Porsche" on the cars. Anyone got anything else?

the oil drip control tube on the MFI has a VW part number on it from the factory.
go through the PET and see how many parts start with a '4' or '7' Bill K |
The backup light switch is common to every year 911, 356, 914 and I think ALL other, including many VW.

FWIW, the oil reservoir drain plug washer is the same for the pre-A 356 (1950) as well as for the 997 Turbo (2011).

Another long running part is the black plastic cover for the lower seat belt bolt. 811-858-845-01C

Wow, this is the kind of inane trivia that is so cool to people like me, and yet my wife completely doesn't get it.
Thanks for the responses.... t. |
Luggage boot light, I know spans all the 65-89 911, and is used as the license light on a vw, have to track down how many years. Pretty sure I found it on a BMW 2002 also....

Transmission Bolts.
They still use 4 bolts for attachment and they are still 17mm unless using flange nuts- then 15mm. my 56 speedster's trans is connected the same as the 911's only now the bolts are longer. |
