Optimoly HT equivalent ?
 
I am replacing my clutch and the sachs kit I bought had a small packet of what look like lube in the kit. I assume it is the shaft antiseize compound refered to as Optimoly HT in the Bentley manual .
At any rate I lost the packet ane need a local replacement to get my tranny back in this weekend.
I was going to use the permatex copper antiseize ( sparingly) as a substitute . Does anyone know if I would be making a big mistake to use this product ?? Is it thick enough to stay on the shaft ?

Where I live , the Optimoly HT is probably at least week or two away and want to get my car back together asap.

Optimoly HT is silver antiseize, very similar properties
I use Lubro Moly copper antiseize on everything
the Permatex is probably just fine

But if you must source a local version, try and find some silver antiseize.
Optimoly HT is made by Castrol, you can download their datasheet to compare it to whatever you find.

the little packet contains high temperature grease. You can get a tube of equivalent grease from another vendor who also has a forum and sells racing parts in souther Calif . It has to be shipped ground, so it takes forever to arrive.

I use Bosch distributor grease instead of the Optimoly HT. You should be able to find it at a VW shop.

Before seeing the note about the bosch grease I went ahead and put some permatex copper antiseize on the splines.did I make a major mistake?
I can dissassemble if necessary.

Permatex Copper Anti-Seize is an equivalent product to OptimolyHT.

Well done!!!! You did just fine. :)

Bosch distributor grease is not the correct product for this application.

The factory manuals also call for Optimoly TA in some applications. Does Permatex have an equivalent for that one too?

When I bought my clutch parts from Pelican for my 88 911, a bought a tube of High Performance Grease made by Sachs based on my interaction with the PP Porsche specialist. Is this not the correct grease for the splines and also the clutch fork bearings?

I dunno how important it is, but Optimol HT is a little different from other anti-seizes I've used in that it appears to have a higher metal to lubricant mix. It really is a paste. I can't tell you whether that is significant in this context. I use it where I really want to be sure that a bit more metal flake stays in place. But that's just me. (My go-to anti-seize is Wurth CU800.) Cheers,

Anti seize.

If cost is not a factor, it seems nickel can be used everywhere the others can at least on cars.

Is that accurate?

If what i read on manufacture websites is right or interpreted by me correctly... seems right?

AFAIK the nickel anti-seize is the high temp, used for exhaust.

The High Performance Grease made by Sachs is the correct grease for the clutch splines.

TSBs 8805 Lubrication of Clutch Parts and 8902 Modified Clutch Release Lever Shaft Bearings (for G50) call for the release lever and the contact points between the release bearing and release lever use Olista Longtime 3EP grease 000-043-024-00. This grease has been superseded to Porsche Extreme Pressure Grease 000-043-305-73.

Note that Technical Bulletin 3 911 Clutch Release Bearing for Carrera 1987-89 indicates that the guide tube and sliding surface of the release bearing should not be lubricated.

Edit
8902 Modified Clutch Release Lever Shaft Bearings (for G50) also has the release shaft bearings and the shaft cap/cover filled with 3EP grease.
