tie rod spacer

Wayne's 101 Projects book, installing turbo tie rod kit, speaks of retaining the tie rod spacer. This is so the new turbo tie rods don't bottom out when screwed onto the steering rack.

I've removed my old tie rods, but they don't appear to have the required spacers What am I not seeing?

below are pics of the tie rod end which screwed onto the steering rack.

The turbo tie rod spacers are different and come with the kit. You don't have to retain any of the old TR hardware if you are installing the kit. They are basically large flat washers, and are not part of the old TRs.

The spacers can be seen in figures 1 and 4 of his book.
