Somehow this originally got posted to the off-topic forum, so I apologize if it's a duplicate............
Anyways, will the doors from a '92 C-2 Coupe "bolt right up" to a '78 SC? Will the interior items, such as door panels, pockets, handles, etc. easily/directly attach to the newer doors? Are the hinges and closing/locking mechanisms identical? If no to any of the above, what's involved in doing this? Thanks!

I've looked at your question before, but didn't answer because I'm not sure.
I think, not sure, that they will fit. After all the 964 body shell is the same shape/size as the older 911s. Could be problems with the inner door skins though ![]() |

I wonder if a local Porsche body guy would know?

You could also simply try to compare a 964 with a 911 SC. Look if they look the same regarding door lock and hinge placement.
Oh and in case the clever heads overlook your thread again it's "BTT" BackToTop ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Roland described the differences in the doors a while back. I can't remember all the facts, but it was about 2-3 weeks ago. Very comprehensive.

One thing I forgot to ask..........Can I remove the electric window regulators and switches, and install my manual window regulators and cranks?

SeaDweller - did you solve it?
whilst in the bath ![]() it stated that the 964 kept most of the previous cars (carrera 3.2) body panels (except bumpers). it appears they will fit if the article is correct. anyway thought you'd like to know ![]() back to my bath..................

I asked the original question about 911 door compatibility. The general concensus (including a most detailed synopsis of the history of 911 doors from '65 thru '98 by Roland) suggested that the door shape itself, hinge and latch locations has not changed at all from day one thru the 993 series. However there are enough subtle changes to the location of fasteners, loom openings, etc that would make it alot simpler to just get a door matching the model you have.
The short answer is yes they will bolt right up and hang properly but there may be some work in getting the details to work correctly.
