Porsche Crest 69 911 oil tank - line fitment

Hello my fellow Pelicaneers!!

I have a 69 911 equipped with a rt front wheel well cooler. I bought new rubber oil lines from Pelican as the old ones leaked. One doesn't fit.

The oil line from the thermostat to the oil tank doesn't couple to the tank. The oil line nut is too large for the oil tank fitting, as per the photos.

I had two separate local fitting companies tell me that the oil tank fitting is "French metric", and the replacement oil line's fitting is normal metric. They're quite different in size. It's going to take 3 adapters to make this new line fit. This will add 3" in length (which won't work), and 3-4lbs of weight.

I can't seem to get a solid answer on what oil line will correct this problem. Does anyone have prior knowledge of this pain in the rear (of my car)?

Thank You,
Mark

What size/ year engine do you have? Is your oil tank original? You might be experiencing the issue of fitting a later motor with a early oil tank. Our host carries an adapter from elephant that might solve your problem.

Pretty sure you need a 26 mm female >30mm male adapter. I believe Elephant Racing, Stoddard and others carry it.

Thank you for the insight, I just placed an order for the band-aid.

Seems like a ton of dough for new lines (made of rubber thinner than cheap heater hose), and a fitting that's over $110.00 (delivered) to make the oil line fit. Unfortunately the hose's quality lacks compared to the original German hoses removed, and kinks when it's a fraction too long.

I did learn something here that I'll use next time. Eleph ant supplies the fittings and quality braided hose to have your oil lines manufactured to fit. I suspect that's the route I'll be taking before long.

Onward and upward!!!
