SSI vs. Dansk Heat Exchangers
I have a good deal on a set of used Dansk heat exchangers. Any reason why I should not buy these? They look the same as the SSI's. Am I missing something?

I seem to remember a thread a while back that showed poor looking welds and sloppy looking manufacturing on the dansk-a lot higher price to boot/ whereas SSI were like a work of art and more reasonable.

The number and quality of the electric welding points is better with real SSI.
But that said , you'll never see a difference in driving.

The SSI's are truly a work of art. The welding is almost perfect. I compared them to the DANSK HE's and they were no match.

Not sure if Dansk will give you the same power either.

I searched before hand and found some posts comparing the quality between the two. My car is garaged and mostly used in the spring/summer/fall. So I'm not too worried about that.
Since these are used, the price point kind of doesn't apply either. But new, the SSI's are a better deal. As far as performance I couldn't find anything definitive. Some said the SSI's were slightly better. And some said if you went from Dansk to SSI's, you'd never know the difference in performance. I forgot to ask in my original post. These are from a 3.2 engine. Will they fit my 83 SC?

Maybe you need to grind off the collar that slips into the cilinderhead, and get longer exhaust studs. (3.2 uses thick flange HE's where 3.0 uses thin flange, I believe)

I have an 83 which uses the thick flange. It also does have the collars on the original HE's.

Jp-group (DANSK) are making quality products of many kinds. Exhaust systems for the biggest and leading tunning companys, RUF ect. Original exhaust systems for Porsche as subcontractor.
Take a look at Martins ( the ovner) showroom. JP Group A/S

On another post, someone indicated the 3.2 exhaust ports are larger. So the collar would not fit. I would have to grind it off.

So, the question is, is it worth it to buy these to have to grind the collars off knowing I have a good deal...$ 750 shipped including the two oil lines? Or do I wait for a set of SSI's to become available that I do not need to modify?
