tires or tired of looking at tyres

Hello all:

I am ready to get my 78sc on the road this weekend.

I need new rubber all around.

This car is a daily driver and need some suggestions.

now running 205/55/16 on 6x16

and 225/50/16 on 7x16.

I have the yoko's on the 944 and seem to have good luck.

I do like the fancy tread patterns but don't want to base my choice on style.

If you don't need all season tires, I've been VERY happy my new Continental ExtremeContact DWs over their first 1k miles, I'm running the same size you're looking for on 16x7 front and 16x8 rears. Specifically, I've found these to have an impressive balance between road feel/grip and ride. Further, they have high treadwear numbers which I'm hoping will translate into longer life ... Since they're not all season tires, I suspect they'll become pretty non-compliant when the temperature dips below the 40s.

If you want all seasons, I've also heard good things about the Continental ExtremeContact DSWs -- I have dedicated winter tires and wheels tho (Nokian WR-G2)

I'm considering a set of Continental ExtremeContact DWS(Dry, Wet, Snow) ultra high performance all seasons. I encounter some snow where i'm at so the snow traction helps me out. if you dont have snow, they come in a DW and on tire rack has the highest rating of all the tires fitting those sizes.

Edit: Darrin beat me to it. nice.

Great minds think alike -- If the DSWs are anything like the DWs, I think you'll be a happy camper.

I love Bridgestone R11 and Pirelli pZEROS. You will get a million opinions on this. Depends on your use, climate, driving habits, etc.

I'm running Bridgestone RE760 on my '85 [205/55/16 front, 225/50/16 rears] on 7X16 / 8X16 Fuchs.

I'm very happy with these tires -- affordable, quiet, sticky, and cruise well at speed without squishiness or tramlining on grooved freeway pavement. Excellent dry traction (though not quite ultra-max-super-DOT R sticky) and terrific manners for a street car. Plenty of warning before they start to slip.

Performance in the wet (though I don't see much rain in SoCal, and I try not to drive the p-car in rain when I can avoid it) is quite good -- especially against hydroplaning (note the large circumferential grooves for water evacuation). Reasonably priced, too.

I just put those DWS, on my wife's Mazdaspeed 3, only had them a week, but very good in some rain that we went through, and the ride quality compared to the OEM's is a nice upgrade. I'm thinking about the DW's for the P car next spring.

We have the DWS on our Acura CL-S. 10 months now and still love 'em. Got us thru a Connecticut winter, a nasty one at that, and super quiet and smooth. Wanted the DW for the 911 but got tired of waiting, they were B/O everywhere.
