Removing side mirrors
 

I've disconnected the side mirror assembly except for the wiring. There doesnt seem to be a connector between the mirror and where the wiring exits the door toward the trunk. Do I possibly need to remove the mirror glass to access the wires? Otherwise it looks like I need to remove the door to get to where the wiring goes thru a grommet into the trunk-not a good design if this is correct. Suggestions?

On the Carreras (and SCs I think), there's a round 6-pin electrical connector behind the door card.

Its a 1987.
There is a 6 pin connector in the trunk. Are you suggesting I need to pull that connector thru the grommet on the body, then thru the grommet in the door? Doesn't seem like a good design if so.
