Brakes sticking
During a DE last year my brake pedal went to the floor. So I changed the fluid using a vacuum bleeder that sucks the fluid from the caliper.
After that the caliper on all 4 wheels is stuck, can not move thevdiscs by hand. So this winter I replaced the front calipers to newly overhauled boxter units with new stainless steel hoses. But still have the same problem, all four calipers are stuck on the discs and even the brake light is on indicating that the pressure will not release. Have also checked the rod from the pedal to the MC has play. So can this be a problem located in the MC or can it be the Booster? ![]() |

I had that problem on my '65 coupe. It was only on one wheel though. It turned out to be the rubber hose between the caliper and the steel brake line. It looked OK but the interior would collapse after a brake application and not allow the fluid to return to the master cylinder. I replaced all four lines and have had no further problem.

+1 on the rubber hoses. They are perished, and will not allow the fluid to flow back.
Replace with a new set of stainless lines, bleed, and get back to driving. This should cost you about $100 USD.

I helps reading his thread completely before replying.
![]() His thread indicates that he already replaced the lines with SS and has replaced the front calipers with rebuilds. He states that originally the pedal went to the floor, etc. Could be MC issues? ros911: Year/type would help.

Had brakes not fully releasing, not always ,but yet worse at times on my 68,
rebuilt calipers and replaced hoses too... I found a piece of the wooden floorboard laminant had splintered off at some time and was wedged under the brake pedal spring not alowing full pedal release, took some time to find, but was pretty obvious when found...Clutch and brake pedals were at uneven levels.... Look under floorboard for this or a rock or bottlecap etc... Goodluck...

Thanks for all the feedback people. It looks like the problem is the MC, when I took it out of the car all the calipers released.
It looks like new inside, but the reservoir was full of dirt so I think some of it went in to the MC when I was bleeding the brakes. I have cleaned it and it will go into the car tomorrow so we will see then. Time is now eleven in the afternoon so I better go inside...... |

Something else to check
Just went through this with my '84. When I released the hydraulic pressure all of the calipers released. When I removed the master cylinder from the booster I found that the booster push rod was bent - there was nothing wrong with my master cylinder after all. Worth a look while you have it apart.
