Window sticker removal....

I purchased my car in Pennsylvania which required windshield stickers (two: one for emissions and one for inspection).

They are down low on the drivers side, out of the way, but...

I live in Maryland and I want to remove them.

I peeled what I could, then razor-bladed what I could. There's still a good bit left.

What can I use/do to get rid of the rest?

Thanks in advance.

Lawrence

Wax and Grease Remover. Spray it on, let soak for a minute then rub off. Might take a couple of applications depending how stubborn the sticker is.

All good recommendations......3M Wax and Grease Remover, 3M Adhesive Remover and the gold colored stuff that I have on my shelf right now, GOO GONE works great. But, if you don't have any of them at your disposal right now but do have access to your wife's nail polish remover (contains acetone, the universal solvent) or have some lighter fluid or even gasoline, save yourself a trip to the store as they will do the job.

Rubbing alcohol or vodka or scotch will work as well.

Edit: cheap Scotch.

protect yer dash from the solvents.

You could wait a couple of months, I understand that PennDOT has a prob with the sticker adhesive (at least for the month numbers). They curl off.

Heh, both my stickers on my 325 are scotch taped onto the windshield (and probably a good 60% of the cars I see the stickers are about halfway gone). The adhesive sucks.

sharper blade. No reason a razor shouldn't be able to take off everything on the windshield.

Have you tried some heat from a hair dryer, and then scraping? That usually works for me, and if there's any adhesive residue, something like goof-off or mineral spirits will take it right off. If you're going to use this method, be sure to protect the dash from excess heat and/or solvent with a piece of cardboard, rosin paper, or something similar.

YMMV.

Thanks for the suggestions. The stickers are very low on the windsheild and close to the A pillar so there's little room to maneuver with a blade.

Maybe I'll exercise a little (or a lot) of patience and try again with the razor blade with some chemical back-up for the really tough to reach spots.

Thanks again for the suggestions.

The PA State inspection shops,(the guys who put those stickers on and take them off) have a razor blade device with a handle on it, kind of looks like an ice scraper for the windshield. It takes them a minute to get the sticker off along with all the resulting residue.
