First engine drop, and clutch diagnosis
With much help from fellow Pelican Shawn (NOLASC) and the 101 Projects book, the first engine/trans. drop on my car was completed. I posted earlier that my first 911 track day ended abruptly when the clutch let go. Today we separated the engine and trans. As you can see in the attached photos, the clutch disc basically blew up. It looks like it was worn down to the rivets.
Many thanks to Shawn for his help, which required braving the brutal heat and humidity. I wouldn't have been comfortable doing this alone for the first time. We did the drop under carport in my backyard using a jack, 2 jack stands, and a bunch of wood. ![]()

Bummer that it wasn't just a cable but it looks as though you have enlisted some good help!

Well, there's your problem right there.
I hope you had a big honkin' fan blowing on you working outside in NO. |

![]() (Sorry y'all. Hit the wrong button, I guess, on the post before) This seems to explain your trouble. I hope there is nothing else going on. Glad to help. Shawn

You usually see the rubber centered ones explode - usually doesn't happen to the spring centered ones.
