1970-1971 front oil cooler system

Hi guys,

I have a question regarding the 1970-1971 911 S front oil cooler system. On my 1969 911S tub the piping is routed through the inside of the rocker panel. On my basket case 1972 911S it is routed on the outside of the same panel. But, how is it routed on the 1970-1971 S cars?

Reason I ask is that I thought it was removed on my 1971 911s Targa, since I couldnt find the piping. Now when I look closer I see that someone cut and welded them shut just where they enter under the right front fender. That is exactly how it looks on the '69S. My question is if that really is correct for that year?

Regards,

Johan

'70-'71 definitely runs inside the rocker panels, just like your '69. I always thought the change to outside the rockers was a '73 thing, but maybe not if your '72 is evidence.

Great, thanks! You learn something new every day. Up until now I have thought 1969 was the last year with them inside the rocker panel!

How are te pipes routed in the right wheel well? Like on the later cars?
