Side turn signal setup......HELP
This question goes out to the restoration experts and builders that have done cars to their personal taste....
I've got a couple cars needing side turn signals and I'm in the process of determining how to mount the lamp assemblies. These are the fender mount style found on some of mid-series 911s on the front fender side, just in front of the doors. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1308447623.jpg The lamp assembly is offset and there's a finger on one end of the backside base which leads me to believe this lamp hole is not just a round hole and probably notched on one end. Possibly a 3/4" hole with a 1/4' slot that extends horizontally about 3/4" past the hole edge? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1308447641.jpg I'd really appreciate a picture of the hole or it would be great if someone had a template for this hole with some measurements? Thanks in advance for the help! Rich a914guy@aol.com 214-478-9418 Cell |
The Hole is just round. the plastic clip slips behind the sheet metal.
You have to insure the hole is the ID of the radius of the inset of the notch and edge of the assembly. Measure carefully the hole for the insert up front. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...423_110145.jpg Give me a minute will take a pic |
Here you go:

I found leaving them on tends to melt the housing and lens. Jim |
Perfect info. Jim, thanks!
I tried the single round hole approach on test material and there were issues with the hole becomming too large. Two holes ara a logical and simple approach and the measurements help a great deal. This will be strictly for turn signal. Nice looking Targa BTW! Have a great weekend and thanks again. |
