burning oil, stinking up the garage

Gotta oil leak in the Carerra. Pissing the wife off as she wants me to get rid of it and get a Bimmer convertible. She likes the reliability factor of new cars. (she does not get it) But, the P-car is not helping my case.

I have found a few drip marks on the garage floor, right side (if you were standing behind the car). Oil consumption is not bad, but this car does smell up a storm after my usual ride home from work. Pulled out the Maglight and could not find anything obvious.

Any suggestions?

9 times out of 10 the cause is leaking oil return tubes. Replace them and make your wife happy.

Here's what I do:
  • buy a bunch of your favorite degrease - Castrol SuperClean for me
  • crank water heater to "Nuclear"
  • hook up garden hose to it
  • put rear of car as high as possible on jackstands
  • douse engine and trans with degrease from underneath. don't be shy!
  • let sit for 15-20 mintues
  • lather it up again
  • let sit again
  • once the water heater has your water up to temp, hose it all of with the scalding hot water
  • lather, rise, repeat until you can eat off of it.
  • in a day or so, the location of your leak will be more apparent
