How long until you felt ...
a difference once you changed tranny fluid?
I did the Swepco change in my 915 tranny today and didn't notice any improvement at all. Granted I only had time for a quick spin around the block but none-the-less I guess I was expecting miracles given all the rave reviews about Swepco. I hope to give the car more of a work-out tomorrow and see if it has anything to do with temperature but I was just wondering what everyone else experienced. Specifics: '81 SC with 90k miles; Swepco 201 used; pumped with car level until slight trickle came out the fill plug; only a few metal shavings on the magnetic drain plug other than a small amount of milky white substance. Other than having to cut down the size of the 17mm alllen key wrench (too long so it was hitting what I believe was the accelerator link) this project was SIMPLE! Each one of these projects I accomplish makes me feel more like a true DIY. The advice given on this board rules! Thanks.

For me, it was immediate. You may be replacing fairly fresh tranny fluid. I was replacing fluid that was at least a year old, and there wasn't a heck of a lot in there. Less than I expected, that's for sure.
My 3rd gear synchro started working a little better after that. Also, on cold (freezing) mornings, the tranny felt like it was filled with molasses.

Just a run around the block isn't enough time to get the Swepco warmed up. My 915 is still a little difficult until it warms up.
