Here is a thread you might want to look at: Shops around Atlanta
Peachstate PCA meets socially once a month in the Sandy Springs area but you need to get signed up if your not a member. They've got 2 more autocrosses coming up an a DE at road atlanta in august I think. We are interested in your project so pictures are a must!

Steve,
Where are you located? There are several around here who do their own work and several who write checks. Welcome aboard. Phillip

i recommend doing your own work if you have time, tools and a dd.
nothing better than sweat, grease and a little blood to bring you closer to your car.

![]() I do recommend doing your own work. Spent several hours in the garage this weekend myself and it is rewarding (although my back says otherwise). |

I have used several. The one I like is Franz Blam Racing in Tucker. My experience has been that pricing is not all that different among the better shops, but FBR is very candid about schedule. When they say it will be done by Friday, it is.

Steve,
How about some pictures of your car? Also, where are you located? That might help us recommend a shop in your area?

Our 911s are very owner maintenance tolerant. Look in your owners manual. How to change your own oil~Checking your own brake pads~checking your brake fluid~replacing your air filter~adjusting and replacing V-belts~and fuses/lights... Go easy and find a Porsche buddy with some experience...doing your own work is a big part of the joy of ownership. |

Bread and butter 911s (SCs for example, my all time favorite era) can be worked on by a number of shops. The MFI of an earlier car or carb tuning on a 66 are not skills that all of them have, regardless of what they say. And that goes for the ones who 'specialize' in the earlier cars, from my experience. If you need basic maintenance, such as valve adjustments, brakes, filters, leaky thermostat o-rings, etc, most of these places can cover it. Want your MFI tuned through CO analysis and synchrometer, following CMA? The list is very short. The same goes for taking your late 993 with an OBD II check engine light to an early guy. So, share what you have and what you are looking to have done. That's a start. Pick up the factory repair manuals for your car if you are mechanically inclined. They are fascinating machines to learn about and you may just gain confidence to save yourself some $$$. Good luck
