Question brake light sensitivity adjustment?

so, my problem is brake lights when pressing the pedal. The light is switched on too late, i.e I have to press the pedal really hard in order to get the light on. Any way to make this more sensitive?

Beeblebrox,

THere's a switch mounted to the pedal cluster. WHen you
depress the pedal, it releases a lever closing the brake light
switch. (I think it's a fail safe so the brake lights will stay on
if the switch comes loose.)

You can move it slightly, sounds like the lever is closed too long..
Bend the arm slightly to adjust, I don't think there is an
adjustment screw.

Ahh... Jadams, you're right, there IS an adjustment lever... See, it's too early for me to be handing out advice like a Shadetree hack...

Question

cstreit and jadams

Greetings from the garage

No, in fact there is no switch to the pedal cluster. There is some adjustment for the pedal itself, but that is already adjusted to the maximum.

Please note that this is a 1966 model 911.

Here's a poor amateur explanation with poor english...:
The pedal moves a rod that goes straight to the brake cylinder. Below the car there's something that looks like a pressure valve of some kind that has two wires connected to it. According to my understanding brake fluid goes through this valve and when a certain pressure is received it connects the two wires and TADAA! the two nice lights have been illuminated.

Let's get to the stupid question:
Ok. If... repeat... IF my theory is right (is it???), does the air from the brake system need to be sucked away when replacing this mysterious valve? Does this gizmo have a name (just out of my curiosity)?

My insurance for this summer starts at April 12th and that's when I intend to have my beauty running!!! Unfortz there's still quite a lot of snow around this part of the globe
