Any tricks to replace the AC temp. switch

I will be attempting to replace the temp switch on my 86 Carrera this weekend. I know the tube is fragile. Any advice to make sure I don't damage it during the replacement?

Remove the rubber grommet, thread the tube through it by hand, and use some duct tape to secure it against the evap housing, ensuring good contact with the core fins.
